  Description: A target amplification nucleic acid probe that utilizes target capture for in vitro qualitative detection and differentiation of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) from Chlamydia trachomatis. Specimens include vaginal and male urethral swabs as well as female and male urine specimens. Chlamydia trachomatis is the number one cause of sexually transmitted disease in the United States. Infants born to women with chlamydial infection of the cervix are at risk of acquiring an infection during vaginal birth.
