  The genetic algorithm (e.g. BRCAPRO), or computer program, used to predict whether a patient has an inherited mutation in a given gene (e.g. BRCA1) and/or to determine their risk for developing a disease. The genetic algorithms are based on personal and family medical histories of a disease, such as breast and ovarian cancer.
