Version 2.77

Description

Hexachlorobenzene is a stable, white, crystalline chlorinated hydrocarbon. It is used as a fungicide and in the production of dyes, synthesis of organic chemicals, rubber, and as a preservative for wood. Hexaachlorobenzene emits carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrochloric acid and other chlorinated compounds if it is heated to the point of breaking down. Hexachlorobenzene can inflame the skin, eyes and mucous membrane while recurrent exposure in and around the mouth can cause skin lesions and liver disease.[PubChem:8370] Source: Regenstrief LOINC
