Chlamydophila pneumoniae belongs to the Chlamydiaceae bacterial family. C pneumoniae is a frequent cause of acute respiratory infection, such as, pharyngitis, bronchitis, sinusitis, and community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). It is typically spread by coughing or sneezing, and initial infection usually occurs in school-age children.
