Qualitative detection of nucleic acid sequences in the Cryptosporidium oocyst wall protein (COWP) gene of C parvum and C hominis in stool specimens by PCR-based methods. This assay does not differentiate between the two species. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the submitter's test kit, xTAG® Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel (GPP).
