Term Description

Position: Infant is held upright in vertical sitting facing the examiner, supported at the shoulders with upper arms held at sides of trunk. Legs rest on the support surface.
Procedure: Allow infant's head to fall forward gently. Do not pursue for longer than 15 seconds if no response is observed. Timing should not include periods when the head is bobbing. If infant's head deviates from midline more than 15 degrees in any direction, give next lower score.
