Part Description

LP19871-0   Anaplasma sp
Anaplasma is a genus of rickettsiales bacteria. Anaplasmas reside in host red blood cells and lead to anaplasmosis, a disease most commonly occurs in tropical areas of the world. Anaplasmas require intermediate tick hosts for maturation, and flies may act as mechanical vectors.

The major consequence of infection is the development of haemolytic anaemia due to the damage done to red blood cells.

Species of veterinary interest include:
Anaplasma marginale and Anaplasma centrale in cattle
Anaplasma mesaeterum and Anaplasma ovis in sheep and goats Copyright Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License. See http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ for details. Source: Wikipedia, Wikipedia

Change Reason
The PrThr property is used for LOINC terms whose results are reported using an ordered categorical scale, regardless of whether or not an internal threshold was used to make that determination. This change was approved by the Laboratory LOINC Committee in June 2016.
